Jessica Jacobs, MD

Dr. Jacobs is joining Ridgefield Pediatrics in August. She is a board certified pediatrician with special interest in newborn care, infant and toddler development, and behavior difficulties in the young child. Dr. Jacobs was previously a high school teacher and middle school science teacher, and enjoys the opportunity to help teenagers navigate the difficult pressures and choices that are unique to the adolescent years. She did her undergraduate training at Yale with her focus there on psychobiology, trying to tease out the complex interaction of the human mind and neurological basis for behavior. She did a senior study project on autism, and continues to enjoy working with families to address the needs of children with educational obstacles and special service requirements. Dr. Jacobs attended medical school in South Carolina, and then went on to residency at Dartmouth in New Hampshire. She is currently working in rural northern New York, where she provides hospital and clinic care for both healthy children and those with complicated medical disorders. Dr. Jacobs will be moving to Ridgefield with her husband and three sons, ages 1, 4, and 7. She is eagerly looking forward to the opportunities the community offers with young families, and hopes to continue coaching youth soccer and spending time getting acquainted with the wonderful families in the area.


Dr. Jacobs will be in the area the second week in June to meet parents, conduct some parent groups on topics such as infant sleep patterns, adolescent risk behaviors, and respiratory illnesses in children. She is scheduling appointments starting August 1, 2010.
